Dedication Page
There are three people that I would like to dedicate this website to. Without the influences of these people this page would not be possible.
The first person is Tom Curley. Back in 1978, Tom was the track manager of Catamount Stadium for Ken Squier. Late Model racing was starting to die out due to increasing costs and Tom was determined to find a way to save Late Model racing in northern New England. He looked south and saw the success of the NASCAR Grand Nationals (now Winston Cup). Tom thought that maybe a touring series would save the Late Models so he formed the NASCAR North in 1979. The Tour started out small, centering mainly around Catamount, Thunder Road, and a few other tracks. The driver response was outstanding and soon tracks all over New England and Eastern Canada were clamoring for race dates. After the 1985 season, NASCAR dropped its sanction of the tour, but Tom soildiered on by creating the ACT. Tom built the ACT into one of the most popular and richest regional touring series' over the next ten years. In 1995 everything fell apart with the dissolution of the ACT. Tom picked up the pieces and passed the torch to the Late Model Sportsmans. Building very slowly over the next few years, the ACT is now well on its way to reclaiming its former glory. It is because of Tom's unwavering dedication to the fans and racers of the northeast that this website is dedicated, in part, to him. Thanks Tom.
The other two people that I would like to dedicate this site to are my parents, Marjorie and Glennis Sullivan. They started taking me to the races when I was about 5 or 6. We mostly went to local races at Speedway 95, Unity, and Wiscassett in the early to mid 1970's. In 1977 we went to our first Milk Bowl at Thunder Road. We fell in love with the level of compitition here and made more trips to Vermont the next year. When Tom started the NASCAR North in 1979, we started to follow the tour. We travelled all over New England and Eastern Canada following the tour and saw many new places and made many friends. It is because of them that I had the chance to work on many pit crews for drivers such as Mike Williams, Steve Poulin, Beaver Dragon, Barney McRae, Blair Bessett, Randy MacDonald, Carlton Robie, and Steve Knowlton. Also they gave me the chance to see races at more that 50 different tracks. Thank you so much Mom and Dad. There's no way I could ever pay you back for all you have given me.
